According to the utility company, some people experienced low water pressure as one of its storage reservoirs refills.

It said that customers in the Crabwood and Sarum areas near Winchester kept their water supplies overnight.

In a social media post, Southern Water said: “We’re still working hard to ensure our sites and reservoirs continue to recover after stormy weather affected our sites earlier this week and this is seeing our overall water supplies becoming more resilient."

It added later: "The resilience of our water network continues to improve and with all customers now back in supply, we’ll be closing our bottled water stations at 2pm today.

"However, we’ll be keeping tankers in the area until we’re completely confident the system has fully recovered, just as a precaution.

"Thank you to our colleagues who have staffed the bottled water stations, and a big thank you once again to our customers for their patience and understanding."

Bottled water was supplied to vulnerable customers following the incident.
