A VILLAGER has been fined a four-figure sum for snubbing an order by council planners.

Conrad Lane kept storing materials on land near Stockbridge for several years despite being told to stop by Test Valley Borough Council.

Lane, no age available, of Leckford Lane, Stockbridge, initially denied the charge that between March 16 2015 and November 19 2019 he was in breach of an enforcement notice regarding land at the junction of the A30 and B3057, issued on March 16 2015.

But at a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates Court he changed his plea to guilty.

Magistrates told him to pay a £450 fine, with a £45 victim surcharge and £1,000 costs. There was only a ten per cent discount due to the late change of plea.
