ALRESFORD Young Farmers were delighted their annual charity ‘mucklug’ was allowed to go ahead under Covid guidelines.
Over £600 was raised for the Addington Fund and Winchester Hospice on Sunday March 21.
The Addington Fund supports the farming community in times of crisis. Winchester Hospice provides care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses, and their families.
Alresford YFC is proud to support local charities that have close connections to their members.
Well-rotted manure, donated by local farmer Simon Tickner, at Upper Lanham Farm near Old Alresford, was hand delivered, in a socially-distanced way, to people in Alresford and surrounding villages, in bags, wheelbarrows and trailer loads. Members gave up their Sunday to deliver the manure to the grateful locals who have been busy in their gardens over the lockdown.
The young farmers also received generous donations from passing members of the public.
