AN EMPLOYEE at a Hampshire store has shown her appreciation for the NHS by providing care packages for nearby hospitals.

Jamie Bidwell, an employee at Eastleigh Cash Converters on Leigh Road has provided ten full care boxes for staff at Southampton and Winchester hospitals.

By collaborating with colleagues, friends, family and the community Jamie was able to collect enough items to show her appreciation for the work of NHS staff.

Included in the packages were luxury items, such as face wipes, hand cream, snacks and coffee for staff to use during their downtime at work.

Jamie’s employer was also quick to get involved, allowing her to use the company Facebook page to spread the word.

The company also donated funds for Jamie to purchase two new coffee machines for the hospital staff room.

Jamie, who also arranged donations of surgical hats and clothing said: “I wanted to do something for our local NHS Trust that shows how grateful we are for everything they continue to do.

“Some of the negativity they experience is uncalled for, so I wanted to show them that actions speak louder than words.”

After taking to social media to ask for help with collecting items for the packages, Jamie’s lounge was said to be full of items to be sanitised, sorted and donated.

She added: “Sometimes, it just takes the actions of one person to start a movement, and I’m really proud to be part of a community who responded so brilliantly to my call for help.

“Together, we have hopefully put a smile on the face of some NHS staff who are working so incredibly hard at the moment.”
