A ROMSEY family has launched a new charity website in a bid to support children with cancer in memory of their son.

Alfie Butler, 5, passed away with his parents by his side at their home on January 2 2020.

He was just eight months old when he fell ill and was rushed to hospital where doctors told his parents James and Charlotte the devastating news that their boy had a potentially deadly brain tumour.

Now, James and Charlotte have set up their website, Alfie's Wish, to fund special days out for children battling cancer.

James Butler said Alfie's Wish will work with the charity Clic Sargent through referral applications to send children anywhere their heart desires.

He said: "We are really proud of the website and love it; we just felt that the website was really important to have, because it is a place where people can go, read our story and understand more about the charity.

"With the days out, it will always be the family's request, so they could go to Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Peppa Pig World, a football match once stadiums reopen or a concert to see their favourite pop star.

"I think it will become easier once we start doing days out and families allow us to post about it on social media, so when people have just heard about the charity they can go on our website and there will be a testament page about days out.

"It will give people a better idea of what we can do for them."

The 46-year-old added it was vital to set up the website to reach the widest audience possible.

He said: "Having a website for us was really important, because not everybody is on social media, but everyone has access to the Internet so it is the best way for people to find us.

"It also gives people the confidence to donate, because we just became a registered charity on 25 August last year, and a lot of people these days don't carry cash, so they can do it online."

James added in the next six weeks they should be introducing a shop on the website, where people can buy T-Shirts with the Alfie's Wish logo, as well as hoodies and mugs.

Alfie's Wish website went live on November 29.

As reported, the family raked in £5,000 in five days through their GoFundMe page last summer in an effort to set up their charity.
