ACTIVE Academy Tennis Bishop’s Waltham has been crowned club of the year by Hampshire and IOW LTA.
The successful organisation with enthusiastic coaches has been built up over the past five years.
In 2019/20 their team of Junior Leaders won the LTA Hampshire and IOW Young Persons of the Year Award and received recommendations from the Regional Finals. This latest award puts the icing on the cake after such an unexpected year. Even though tennis has had to stop on the court, dedicated coaches Chris and Sam have kept up face to face interaction with players through online strength and conditioning sessions three times a week, footwork drills twice a week, adults cardio session and weekly mental and physical challenges for all to complete and earn points for their tennis houses as well as a virtual awards evening.
Head coach Chris Hull said: “This is an amazing achievement and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and players who nominated us, we are truly humbled and Bishop’s Waltham Parish Council for their continued support.”
The club offers a range of tennis for all abilities from social play to competitive performance training. Junior coaching is available during the week and at weekends with a comprehensive programme with this season seeing the introduction of technology.
