COVID fines have been issued to a London woman who travelled to the Winchester area for drinks with friends and a parent who let their children visit friends.

Winchester police has said that following patrols on Sunday evening four fines were handed out across the district to those who were found to be breaking Covid regulations.

PS Marsh-Clasby and PC Fry issued a fine to a woman who had travelled from London to the district to visit a friend for drinks.

They also dished out a fine to the parent of two children after it came to light that they were allowed to out all afternoon to mix with their friends and receive a ride home from a parent of one of their friends.

The officers were later called to reports of a party in Alresford, but on arrival there was no party. However, they found three different households mixing.

PS Marsh-Clasby said: “The occupants appeared to feel that the rules did not apply to them. The home owner and other male have now been issued with a fine.”

Four youths were also found together at a recreational ground in Otterbourne and one of them was found in possession of cannabis.

“She was taken home to her parents and issued a community resolution,” PS Marsh-Clasby added.

She continued: “We know the weather has got better and the sun is out but please remember we are still in lockdown and you can only leave your home for very limited reason."
