A POLICE officer 'lied' to her colleagues about having Leukaemia so she could get time off work, a hearing has been told.

Olivia Lucas faces multiple allegations of gross misconduct during her time working as a New Forest PC, a hearing was told.

The former officer quit Hampshire Constabulary on Sunday and failed to attend a virtual hearing on Monday.

Barrister, Barney Branston QC, who represented the force told how Lucas created “fantastic stories” and tried to drive a “wedge between” two married women - Miss A and Miss B.

She is accused of lying to colleagues and supervisors about having cancer and treatment at Royal Marsden Hospital.

However, Mr Branston said she provided no medical evidence and similarly the hospital has no records of her ever being a patient. Lucas is alleged to have told superior officers that she needed time off for blood tests and immunotherapy.

According to the force, the incidents happened between October 2018 and July 2019.

Lucas allegedly told Miss A - who she wanted to form a relationship with and who is a retired police officer - that she had received a string of offensive and threatening messages from other serving officers.

A police investigation revealed that Lucas had in fact written these messages herself.

Facing five allegations in total, Mr Branston said: “Any one of these allegations is so serious that dismissal would be justified if she was still serving.”

The hearing continues today.
