TO THE musicians of Winchester the building is known as the home of Geoff Denyer's business.
But plans have been submitted to turn 23 Little Minster Street into a one bedroom flat.
An application has been sent to the city council by Ian Waight, based in Chilworth, Southampton.
Mr Denyer, who ran his violin restoring and dealing business from the property, is now working from home in Solihull.
A statement on the company's website says: "Geoff graduated from Newark School of Violin Making in 1984.
"He gained much experience in workshops throughout Europe and is now working from his home in Earlswood, Solihull, from where he buys and sells violins, violas, 'cellos and bows.
"Geoff takes great pride in offering a personal and professional restoration service to musicians internationally."
The Chronicle has contacted Mr Denyer and awaits a response.
