BUSINESSES in the Winchester district that are struggling through lockdown are entitled to a grant.

The city council has announced a new hardship fund, with up to £10,000 available for each individual company.

Anyone can apply – even if they received funding during the first lockdown last year.

Cllr Paula Ferguson told a cabinet meeting on February 11: "This aimed at businesses who, despite receiving Government help, are at real risk of closure.

"We would really like to encourage as many people as possible to get involved."

To register, visit the business page on the city council website.

At the same meeting, Cllr Malcolm Prince reminded listeners that small grants can still be applied for.

He said: "The initial five we have had this year have been a mix of: money for recovering from the pandemic, and funds to reach the climate emergency goal.

"A further panel will be held in two weeks for more applicants."
