SIR: Like many people I received an NHS letter offering a coronavirus vaccination, at Southampton. Although inconvenient I accepted. Two days later I had an offer from my GP to have a vaccination at Badger Farm. I cancelled the NHS appointment and went for the GP date.
My wife and dozens of our friends have been through the same process which makes me wonder about both the duplication and inefficiency involved and likelihood that cancelled slots are not filled. I contacted Steve Brine, our MP but he said "As I understand they are looking to offer people multiple choices between GPs, pharmacies and vaccine hubs which is why you've been offered multiple ways of booking it". This has nothing to do with the mantra of choice - in fact the NHS letter says do not contact your GP. It is a wasteful process and our MP is not bothered.
