A MAN who attacked a policeman has been jailed but was released the same day because of the time he had spent in custody.
Jack Philip Brambleby, 30, of no fixed abode, admitted assaulting PC Oliver Green in Winchester on November 11.
He pleaded guilty and magistrates in Basingstoke fined him £200 and ordered he pay £100 compensation.
The court imposed a custodial sentence but it was deemed served because of the time already in custody, which was not stated.
