A WINCHESTER man who appeared in court twice in two days has been sent to prison.

At the first appearance Christopher Gwyn Peake, 40, of Christchurch Road, was fined a total of £134 after he admitted stealing a £64.99 hair trimmer from Boots on the High Street on June 10 last year.

But he appeared in court the following day to plead guilty to assault and threatening on the day of the previous appearance.

Peake pleaded guilty to attacking PCSO Donna Bidle and threats towards Edward Hurst.

Magistrates jailed him for eight weeks, describing the assault as a "deliberate attack on a public servant carrying out their duties."
