SIR: Whilst I appreciate that I am only paying £3,000 a year to our Winchester Council…
A glass collection operative took his time to take a photo of my excess, (ie six) extra bottles that I did not fit into the black plastic box, thinking that if they were in a separate basket, it would be easier for the dear chap to load.
When challenged, he told me there were ‘plenty of recycling areas around’!
I appreciate that they are doing a great public service for us (out of my £3k) but why does the council arm these ‘jobsworths’ with cameras and tell them not to to collect a few extra bits of glass.
I think we should be told... after all, we are not meant to take our cars out for needless trips whilst in ‘lockdown’.
