A WINCHESTER-based company has designed state-of-the-art containers to be used as mobile Covid-19 testing units.

Eagle International has constructed and delivered the units which are Bio Safety Level 2 laboratory spaces in standard 20ft high-cube containers.

The units are said to offer flexible space capable of housing substantial pieces of equipment, as well as compartmentalised for controlled working environments.

Managing director Jonathan Munro Ford said: “The scope for diverse use of these modules is extensive. Currently we are producing Covid-19 testing labs however, they could just as easily be dentist hubs, blood donation units, vaccination centres; the list is endless.

Cignpost Diagnostics Ltd. recently purchased two of the mobile labs for their Covid-19 screening and on-site testing programmes for global clients in sectors as varied as finance, travel, manufacturing, elite sport, defence and entertainment.

Chief executive Christian Corney said: “We are very pleased with not only the quality but also the service we have received from Eagle International.

“The lab is bright, well-spaced and organised allowing all our scientists to deliver our gold standard PCR test results quickly and optimally. The installation of the lab was also an absolute breeze, with the Eagle team onsite during the whole process, meaning we can focus on helping our clients get back to work and protecting their employees.”

The installation and design can be configured to fit any number of platforms from Luton vans to customised trailers or lorries.

Eagle International has been providing ambulances and a range of PPE equipment to the NHS for over 15 years.

PPE and medical sales director Georgia Munro Ford added: “We are extremely excited to be such an integral part of the hugely important testing process that will hopefully enable the UK to return to some sort of normality. We all now recognise how important regular testing will be going forward and we, as a team, are set up to produce these testing units on a large scale.”
