A SPEEDING motorist has been spared a driving ban because of the effect on his family.
Scott Jason Blake, 49, of Tomkyns Road, Chandler's Ford, drove a 69-reg Audi on the M27 eastbound between junctions 4-5 near Eastleigh at 59mph in the 50-zone on March 6.
He admitted the charge under the single justice procedure when he appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court.
Magistrates said there were 'mitigating circumstances' which meant they could avoid a ban. A ban would affect his ability to have contact with his children and care for elderly and frail parents who rely on him.
Instead they imposed three penalty points on his licence and fined him £203 with a £2 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
