SIR: My wife and I moved to Winchester just over two weeks ago and we both quickly observed how well-behaved are the city's residents at social distancing compared with those in Surrey from whence we came. Here people more readily move into single file, move out of the way, or simply wait while we pass, just as we've always done. In Winchester, the majority - including teenagers - regard this as the norm whereas previously we were in a minority, many of the non-conformists viewing us somewhat disparagingly or even odd.

Well done to Winchester's residents - and let's hope that this behaviour is maintained until the pandemic is behind us.
