THE doors to a popular restaurant in Alresford have closed for good.

Pizza Express in Broad Street is the latest establishment to go in the town.

According to a spokesperson at the national chain's head office, the branch was not included in Company's Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).

A CVA is a way for struggling businesses to pay off their debts over a fixed period of time and offers the opportunity to address issues surrounding management and operational systems that were not working.

“Whilst our Arlesford pizzeria wasn’t included in our CVA which was approved in early September last year, the landlord has subsequently served us notice," said the spokesperson.

"This has sadly resulted in the closure of the restaurant and we’re doing everything we can to support our team."

When asked about the future of the Winchester branch in Bridge Street, the spokesperson added: "Customers are welcome to order delivery or collection from our restaurant in Winchester and our At Home range is available from all major retailers."
