THE emergency lorry park on the A31 near Winchester has so far seen little use.
The measure was introduced this month in case backlogs of HGVs developed at Portsmouth ferry port in the event of a no-deal Brexit.
The lorry park is on the westbound part of the A31 dual carriageway whilst the usual traffic is put on a contraflow on the eastbound carriageway with a 30mph speed limit.
A spokesperson for Hampshire County Council said today: “I can confirm that the short stay triage point on the A31 is now operational.
"Around 30 lorries have been processed through that point so far since the New Year which has been, as expected, a quiet time of the year for freight. The A31 triage point is part of an overall Hampshire and Isle of Wight Local Resilience Forum plan which involves a number of agencies, including Portsmouth City Council and Portsmouth International Port.”
