A FORMER Winchester inmate has received a suspended sentence for attacking a prison officer.
Jamie Laver, 26, from Bristol, initially denied assaulting Marley Rooker at the prison on June 19 last year, but later changed his plea to guilty.
Magistrates in Basingstoke jailed Laver for 12 weeks suspended for 12 months, saying he had a history of similar offences. There will be an electronically-monitored curfew for him to remain at home from 8pm to 6am to last until February 3 2021.
Laver was also ordered to pay £100 compensation. He also admitted a plea of failing to attend a court hearing
