SIR: Foolish idea of closing a lane on the A31 if there is a 'No deal' (Chronicle, December 3). This apparently will cause chaos at ports thus needing somewhere for lorries inconvenienced to park; miles from the ferries? This will be detrimental to the commuters to and from Winchester and Alresford.
If an accident happens no first response vehicles will be able to get through, nor will vehicles be able to turn around. And more importantly an ambulance has no chance of getting to the patient in the allocated time given; which means a longer around trip putting lives at risk.
