THE trust which runs Winchester hospital has seen a decline in the number of coronavirus cases, NHS England data has shown.

There were 99 coronavirus patients admitted to Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as of Tuesday, December 8. This was a drop from 107 on Tuesday, December 1.

The figures also show that 34 new Covid patients were admitted to the trust in the week to December 6. This was down from 56 in the previous seven days.

However, the number remains the same when compared to a four-week period. The total number of coronavirus cases in Hampshire hospitals 28 days ago was 98.

Across England there were 13,629 people in hospital with Covid as of December 8, with 1,118 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised has increased by 13%, while those on mechanical ventilators has increased by 11%, in the last four weeks across England.
