WHO said that all winter wonderland events are cancelled this year?

Weeke residents are making their own by building wooden Christmas trees and erecting them in their front gardens.

Those who live at the Bereweeke Avenue end of Westman Road began work on November 21.

Claire Nichols told the Chronicle: "This is to bring a bit of festive cheer to those who pass by.

"The idea started with five households who used to bring a glass of wine out to the front of their houses and clap for key workers every Thursday.

"We had a socially distanced VE Day tea party with food, music and decorated tables and outfits and the idea is now spreading down the road.

"There are now at least ten houses collecting pallets. We have been outside the front of our houses with tools, paintbrushes, festive jumpers, music and mayhem to create our very own winter wonderland."

The completed trees will be erected this weekend (November 28).
