CHRISTMAS cards show picturesque scenes of snow-covered landscapes, but will Basingstoke see snow this year?
Unfortunately waking up on December 25 to this seems unlikely this year.
The Met Office say that the general outlook for December will include persistent rain, showery interludes and wind.
Luckily, the South is predicted to see the driest and brightest weather in the UK.
In the beginning of the festive period next month, conditions are predicted to be settled across the south with outbreaks of rain and strong winds.
Early December may bring overnight frosts but will generally be fine conditions.
The rest of the month will probably see persistent rain with frost and fog likely.
The Met Office say it can only forecast if snow is likely to fall on Christmas Day up to five days in advance.
Whilst the Met Office have not yet predicted snow over the festive period, AccuWeather have predicted snow showers all day on Christmas Eve.
The long range forecast on AccuWeather states Basingstoke could see snow shower and flurries all day on December 24, when temperatures drop to zero degrees Celsius.
According to the Met Office, the last widespread white Christmas in the UK was in 2010 although technically, the last white Christmas in the UK was in 2017.
