A SCHOOL for pupils with special educational needs in Basingstoke has closed to pupils after three members of its community tested positive for coronavirus, leading to staff shortages.
The Coppice Spring Academy, on Pack Lane, sent all pupils home on Tuesday, November 24.
Pupils will engage with remote learning until December 4, and the school hopes to reopen on Monday, December 7.
David O’Neill, headteacher, told the Gazette: “Due to three cases of coronavirus now confirmed within our school community, The Coppice Spring Academy will be delivering remote learning from Thursday 26th November to 4th December. Our intention is to reopen on Monday 7th December.
“The majority of students are not required to self-isolate but some staff are required to stay at home. As we are a very small school, this has impacted our ability maintain on-site education while ensuring the safety of all our students.
“Every student will have access to online lessons via their tutors and we are utilising the DfE scheme to ensure fair access to technology for all."
Coppice Spring is the third Basingstoke school to close its doors to all pupils due to the virus, following the Vyne school and Manor Field Infant School earlier this month.
