As well as repairs it will improve facilities in the church, the last known resting place of King Alfred the Great.
Builders have found rotten timbers and flooring in the vestry damaged in the August storm will have to be renewed.
A quiz night will be held over Zoom on Friday November 20 at 7.30pm. Donations of £5 are requested for those taking part, via www.stbartstowerappeal.org or by cheque to PCC of Hyde.
