A SCHOOL is set to reopen today after being forced to close due to a positive case of Covid-19.
The headteacher of Abbotswood Junior School on Ringwood Road, Totton, confirmed the news of the closure in a letter to parents on Wednesday.
The decision was made after a member of the school tested positive for Covid-19 and whilst staff awaited further guidance from Public Health England (PHE).
Over 600 pupils attend the school which was closed all day yesterday as a “precaution”, not as a result of a “widespread outbreak” according to the head.
A letter was also sent to children in relation to home learning.
The school is now set to reopen today following clarification from PHE.
Four bubbles of children have been asked to continue to self-isolate until November 26.
They will continue their education from home.
The headteacher said: “I was made aware late in the day on Wednesday that another member of our school community had tested positive for Covid-19.
“In consultation with Public Health England, the decision was made to close the school.
“Public Health England has provided further clarification on the action that we need to take and, as a result, I can confirm that we have asked four bubbles to continue to self-isolate.
“We look forward to welcoming back those in self-isolation assuming they are well enough to do so.”
