WINCHESTER businessmen and women have launched a club to support those who lost their job during the pandemic.

The group will offer free online coaching to locals, with the first course beginning on November 23.

They are looking for up to 12 jobseekers to take part, who will receive peer support from others in the same position.

Established by executive coach, Belinda Smith, and innovation consultant, Ian Coulter, the club is financially supported by Christ Church Winchester.

Mr Coulter said: "Winchester’s unemployment rate is at its highest level since 1994. Unfortunately, despite the extension of the furlough scheme, this figure is likely to grow. We felt compelled to do what we can to stem the tide. Belinda and fellow coach Katie Newman are offering their skills for free and the material from Re:Work benefits people with any skill level and experience from any industry.”

Anyone in the district who has lost a job since March 2020 can join.

Through six weekly workshops, two professional coaches will provide help on mindsets, goal-setting, transferable skills, job-targeting, CV writing, networking and interviews.

Coaches will run sessions from 2.30pm to 5pm on afternoons of November 23 and 30, and December 7, 14, 17 and 21.

The sessions will take place on Zoom, so participants will need access to the internet.
