A HOUSEHOLD favourite is set to host a special online ‘Night In’ to support a children’s charity.

Davina McCall will host the event to raise funds for Action Medical Research which has seen many fundraising events either postponed or cancelled this year as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

The charity funds vital medical research to help sick babies and children and is now driving forward research to help protect children from Covid-19.

One of the charities largest annual events, Dine with Davina, is held in Southampton and usually attracts around 450 guests and raises more than £50,000.

As the physical event is not possible this year, the charity has now decided to run the virtual ‘Davina’s Night In’ instead and hopes that those people who normally attend in person, as well as many more, will join in online.

Ruth Dean, organiser of Davina’s Night In, says: “We are so grateful to Davina for hosting this special event and are really looking forward to the evening, which will feature the ex-Mr England, Jordan Williams, as well as some other special guests.

“It will be a great way to hear from the amazing Davina from the comfort of your own home, all while helping to raise money for vital medical research.”

As an Action Ambassador, Davina has been supporting the charity for many years, having first been introduced by her late granny ‘Pippy’, who was a local fundraiser.

Davina’s Night In is set to live stream from 8pm on November 24 and is said to be an evening of ‘conversation and entertainment’.

A fundraising auction and the chance to win prizes in a ‘Star Prize Draw’ are some of the ways that audiences can get involved and raise money for the charity from the comfort of their own home.

A spokesperson for Action Medical Research said: “With the nights drawing in and most of the UK in lockdown, what better way to spend an evening than in the company of one of the UK’s best-loved celebrities while helping to raise funds to help sick babies and children.”
