THE number of Covid deaths in Hampshire in the last seven days has reached 24, the highest figure since May and the peak of the crisis.
Six people with coronavirus in Hampshire have been reported dead over the last 24 hours. Today's figure is 795, up from 789.
Figures published by NHS England show that seven people at county hospitals have died with the virus.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 678 deaths across Hampshire, up from 654 last Friday, reported by the NHS.
Sometimes the reporting of deaths in hospitals is not in synch with the reporting for council areas and vice versa.
Three deaths were recorded at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, three at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and one at Solent Healthcare NHS Trust, which provides community and mental health services, the first there in months.
So far, 220 people have died with Covid at University Hospital Southampton. At Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust the toll stands at 254, and at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which includes the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, there have been 183 recorded deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 678 deaths across Hampshire, up from 654 last Friday, reported by the NHS.
Two more deaths has been reported in the Winchester City Council area bringing the total to 85.
Across the area of Hampshire County Council there have been six deaths reported in the last 24 hours, taking the figure to 789 since March.
The daily figures for the Winchester district today is 30 cases, bringing the total to 1,419, an infection rate of 1,136.5 per 100,000 people since the start of the crisis in the spring.
‘Winchester district’ comprises more than the city and is the city council area which stretches from Micheldever in the north to Southwick in the south, from Sparsholt in the west to Bramdean in the east.
Data shows that the infection rate in the Winchester district in the seven days to November 8 is 155.4 in every 100,000 up from 137.8 people. It is the sixth highest in Hampshire after Portsmouth, Havant, Southampton, Gosport and East Hampshire.
Today there were 308 new cases reported in the Hampshire County Council areas taking the total to 13,905, an infection rate since March of 1,005.8 per 100,000 people.
The number of deaths in the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation hospitals, which includes the RHCH, is up three to 183. For the other local trusts: Portsmouth, 254, up three; Solent, 3, up one; Southern Health, 18, same; Southampton, 220, same. Some 678 people have died in county hospitals.
Deaths in local authority areas are Winchester: 83; Portsmouth: 84; Southampton: 131 and Hampshire 795 (including Winchester), up six.
Nationally, 27,301 new cases were reported today, down on the 33,470 yesterday. This brings the total to 1,317,496. Today in the UK, 376 people who had tested positive for the virus within the last 28 days, have died. The total is now 51,304.
The numbers of Covid sufferers being admitted to hospital has dropped slightly. There were 110 taken in on Tuesday down from 137 in hospitals across the south-east region on Monday. Today there are 848 patients in south-east hospitals, down on 875 on Tuesday. Fifty-eight are on ventilators, up six on Tuesday.
The latest available figure for Covid patients at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital was 63 on Wednesday, up from 50 last week.
