THE Government has said 595 more people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, as of today, November 11, bringing the UK total to 50,365.

The increase in deaths makes the UK the fifth country to pass 50,000 deaths, coming after the United States, Brazil, India and Mexico.

Latest figures show that, as of 9am today, there had been a further 22,950 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 1,256,725.

Basingstoke and Deane has seen 43 more cases today, November 11, and over the last seven days there have been three deaths in the borough. 

Around 350 patients are currently being treated for coronavirus in hospitals across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight while 15- 16 patients are on ventilators.

Health bosses said hospitals across the county are “coping” with an increase in cases but residents have been urged to continue to follow the rules as the number of Covid-19 cases across the county is on the rise.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths when Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 65,000 deaths involving coronavirus in the UK.
