SAINSBURY’S has opened its doors in Bishop’s Waltham following months of refurbishment work.

The new shop in Winchester Road has replaced the former Budgens Store which closed in September.

It includes an Argos collection point, a pizza counter and a selection of beauty products, as well as fresh juice and takeaway coffee.

Opening hours are 7am-8pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays.

Cllr Patrick Cunningham, Mayor of Winchester said: “It’s a very special day for the Sainsbury’s team that have worked to get this store open, the colleagues waiting to serve customers and our community.

"It’s always fantastic to see our region receive new investment. I welcome Sainsbury’s to Bishop’s Waltham and wish the team all the very best as they continue to feed the nation throughout the pandemic and beyond."

Staff say they will play an active role in the local community and will support Sainsbury’s nationwide charity partners.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s property director said: “I’m sure the community is going to enjoy this new and convenient one-stop shop. We know how important access to great value groceries is which is why we’re so proud to be opening the doors to customers today.

"We really appreciate the support and patience of everyone over the past few months as we worked as quickly as possible to refurbish the store."

Donna Everton, the Bishop’s Waltham store manager, added: "The team and I are excited to welcome and serve the Bishop’s Waltham community. The new store will offer great value and choice and we’re sure customers will love the convenience."
