TODAY The Vyne School has sent a fourth year group home to self isolate after a coronavirus outbreak.

The school announced on their Facebook page that year 11 were to join year seven, eight and nine in self-isolation for 14 days.

This leaves year 10 as the only year group in the school and concerned parents have been voicing their views on the schools Facebook announcement.

Other parents took to the comments to question if they would be fined for keeping their children off.

The Vyne posted a statement on Facebook earlier which read: “Following advice from Public Health England, due to a further confirmed case of Covid 19 in school it is necessary to send home all students in Year 11 to self isolate for 14 days from 6th November.

Please can you email the school (enquiries@vyne.hants.sch.uk) to either give permission for your child to walk home or to confirm you are on your way to collect your child. Please leave the phoneline free. Your child will be given a letter which explains the situation.”

They later added: “ These decisions are not ours to make. We have to follow the guidance and action from Public Health England.”

Becky Stent has two children at the school, one has been instructed to self isolate, the other in year 10 is still expected to go to school.

She wrote: “Just close the whole school!! My child is yr 10 and is now the only Year left in school. Frustrating her sister in Year 8 is home isolating and they live together, tell me how this makes sense!! Send our kids home!”

Christina Tippen has made the decision to keep her son off from school for the next two weeks: “I’m saying it here now my son year 10 will not be going into school tomorrow. He will now be off for the 2wks like the rest of the school! All years now not in but year 10 can still go in and risk catching it, they’re not suddenly immune they shouldn’t be in either. If it’s that bad the school should be closed for a deep clean for the 2 weeks.”

Samantha Draper agreed with Christina: “My son is in year 10 and from tomorrow he will be staying at home I believe that if most year groups are self-isolated then the whole school should close the school and do a deep clean !”
