THE Vyne School has sent home all year 11 students to self-isolate for 14 days.

It comes just 24 hours after year seven, eight and nine were sent home to self isolate.

The students will be expected to self isolate for the next fortnight and will return back to school one day after the three other year groups.

The school wrote a statement on their Facebook page this afternoon saying: "Following advice from Public Health England, due to a further confirmed case of Covid 19 in school it is necessary to send home all students in Year 11 to self isolate for 14 days from 6th November.

"Please can you email the school (enquiries@vyne.hants.sch.uk) to either give permission for your child to walk home or to confirm you are on your way to collect your child. Please leave the phoneline free.

"Your child will be given a letter which explains the situation."

The Vyne reported their first positive case within its school community to Hampshire County Council on Friday, November 6.

A letter sent to parents on Friday stated: “We have been made aware of a member of the school who has tested positive for COVID-19.

"This is the first confirmed case of a school student or member of staff. We are managing this case safely and effectively but we know that some of you may find this concerning and we are working closely with Public Health England to monitor the situation.

“The individuals who have been in direct, prolonged contact with the confirmed case have now received individual contact and will be self-isolating at home."

We have contacted The Vyne for comment.
