SINCE the closure of Brighton Hill’s Pizza Hut restaurant last month, there has been speculation as to what might be set to replace it - and a clear favourite choice has become apparent.

The Brighton Hill retail park Pizza Hut branch was confirmed as closing last month - along with 28 other of the company’s UK restaurants.

We asked readers what they would most like to see join the retail park line-up. While there were over 500 varying responses, overwhelmingly the most popular suggestion was for one particular restaurant: TGI Friday’s, which got nearly 100 votes.

One commenter wrote: “Has to be TGI Friday’s”

Another said: “@TGIFridaysUK - need one in Basingstoke!”

Another added: “Tgi’s of course!”

Basingstoke Gazette:

The long wait for a Friday’s in the town may soon be over, as the chain told the Gazette it would ‘“love” to open up in Basingstoke.

A spokesperson said: “We’d love a Fridays in Basingstoke! We don’t have plans to do so right now, but never say never. We’ve always got an eye out for great new locations.”

Other popular suggestions included IKEA, children’s soft play centre, an ice rink, a climbing centre, Cosmo buffet restaurant, and even a wildlife sanctuary.

The Gazette has contacted the retail park agents for comment on what is planned for the vacant unit, but with nothing yet announced, hope still remains for Friday’s to finally come to town.
