A HUGE fire took hold of a construction site last night after more than a dozen portacarbin went up in flames.
Bournemouth Road in Chandler's Ford had to be closed due to the fire next to the Asda supermarket.
It started just before 8pm.
Three fire crews rushed to tackle the blaze, and was put out at 10.41pm.
It is understood that nobody was hurt in the incident.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters from Eastleigh, Hardley and St Mary's were mobilised at 7.45pm last night to a commercial site on Bournemouth Road, Chandler’s Ford.
"There was a fire involving 16 portacabins across two-storeys.
"The first-floor was 100% [destroyed] by fire and extinguished using four breathing apparatus and four jets.
"The stop message came in at 10.41pm and an investigation will take place in the morning."
The site is currently under development after Village Hotels unveiled plans for a 153-room hotel along with a state-of-the-art gym, a Starbucks and a pub and grill in Chandler’s Ford.
As reported, a witness at he scene told the Echo that he saw "loads of fire engines" rushing down Bournemouth Road past the supermarket.
He said: "We turned around and saw this huge orange glow and realized the site was on fire."
