SIR: One is given to understand that the ossary box of St Swithun is languishing in some dark, probably damp, corner of the Cathedral, hidden away, uncared for and unloved.
Given that St Swithun is Winchester's own Saint, would it not be more proper for this reliquary to be properly cared for and on prominent display? Once upon a time, large numbers of pilgrims would trek to Winchester, from far and wide, to pass but close to it and, maybe, they will do so again, were it to be displayed.
