SIR: St. Giles Hill is one of my favourite locations for walks through a natural, untouched area, resplendent with a myriad species of trees. Birds and wildlife flourish in such a natural environment. Experiencing such serenity so close to Winchester centre is awesome.
My concern is that 'clearing' tree to promote plant growth may be naïve. Bluebells and other species grow where they thrive (Chronicle October 15).
There is such joy witness such a beautifully naturally area. Let us not tamper with Nature for Nature knows best when left to alone. And trees are essential for long term environmental security.
