TWO more schools in the Winchester district have confirmed cases of coronavirus.
Denmead Junior School and John Keble C of E Primary School, in Hursley, have informed Hampshire County Council that at least one member of their school communities has tested positive for Covid-19.
Throughout Hampshire 51 schools have told the authority, which is in charge of public health for the county, that they have active cases of the virus.
This means in some cases, one or more bubbles will be self-isolating. In others, there is no requirement for a bubble to isolate.
Yesterday the Chronicle reported that Osborne School in Winchester has closed following a positive case.
It has now been confirmed that there seven positive cases at the school.
Headteacher Sonia White said: “Osborne School, Athelstan Road, Winchester, will be closed from 3.30pm on 20 October and will reopen after the half term holiday, at 8.45am on Monday 2 November.
“The closure is due to operational reasons following the confirmation of seven positive Covid-19 cases, requiring the self-isolation of some staff and pupils.
“We continue to work closely with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Health Protection Team.
“As a precaution, there will be a full deep clean of the school during the closure period.”
