POLICE have issued a warning after residents have received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Bishop's Waltham Police Station saying they will be visiting their address to fit a burglar alarm.
The person has called residents saying that they will be in uniform and an unmarked car to install the alarms.
Hampshire Constabulary has said that the call is not associated to the force and is asking people to keep safe by following this advice:
- Check ID of officers when they come to your door.
- If you are in any doubt, call us on 101 to clarify whether this is a legitimate visit and report anyone attempting to impersonate our officers.
- Do not leave anyone you do not know unattended in your home.
- Check on vulnerable or elderly neighbours and make them aware of this information
A police spokesperson said: “This post is not to cause alarm but to make you aware of these calls. We need to know if there are people claiming to be from Hampshire Police, so please do report anything you consider suspicious.”
