SIR: You reported the Lib Dems' claim that the Conservative administration left a “£19 million hole in the city’s finances”. The facts, however, are somewhat different.

The city council’s audited accounts for the year ending 31st March 2019 - the last year the Conservatives were in charge - show a surplus, and an increase in reserves by £2.1 million to £59 million!

The budget we announced for the year to March 2020 had a range of plans for efficiency savings and income generation to meet future needs, but all of which have been put off by the Lib Dems.

And now it turns out that they can’t even implement properly the solitary idea they have got - increasing parking prices.

How much more dither and delay are residents supposed to tolerate?!
