BOSS Ralph Hasenhuttl insists new Saints defender Mohammed Salisu “definitely makes us better” and said it would not be long until he would take to the field.

The centre-back arrived from Real Valladolid for a reported £10.9million back in August, putting pen-to-paper on a four-year contract.

But the Ghanaian is yet to make his debut for the St Mary’s side, as he continues to get up to speed with his new club.

Asked how Salisu was progressing, Hasenhuttl told the Daily Echo: “Better and better.

“He’s part of the team sessions so far. I think it doesn’t take long to see him on the pitch.

“I think one or two weeks, maybe, and then hopefully we will be seeing him.”

Salisu made 32 appearances in all competitions for La Liga outfit Valladolid last season.

Asked whether he was already learning Hasenhuttl’s style behind the scenes at Staplewood, the manager said: “Absolutely. He shows his physical qualities now.

“He is a very physical, strong guy and also with the ball, with his left foot, calmer.

“He definitely makes us better and I am really looking forward to seeing him for the first time on the pitch.

“Sure, he has to learn what we are doing, how we want to defend. He is a calm, good guy and I’m very happy to have him here.”
