SIR: I regularly visit Winchester where some of my family live. Having attended Peter Symonds (then grammar school), joined the Royal Hampshire Regiment in Lower Barracks, and then started my first job in the High Street I naturally have a long an affectionate feel for the City.
I still read The Hampshire Chronicle, where incidentally I once applied unsuccessfully for a post. The readers letters page is my first port of call. This is always dominated by political and confrontational letters regarding, roads, congestion and new building developments.
Would it not be refreshing, especially in these difficult times to read some uplifting letters? The city and the surroundings are the envy of many places, not without the same problems. Come on Wintonians let us have some good news letters!
