A WINCHESTER man was arrested near River Park after officers found a quantity of drugs.

The 38-year-old man from Winchester was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs after a large amount of wraps were found following a search.

He was later released under investigation and enquiries continue.

Meanwhile, police are today introducing a dispersal order to clampdown on anti-social behaviour in Winchester city centre.

The order will cover the High Street, Orams Arbour, Jewry Street, River Park Leisure Centre, Water Lane and the Cathedral Grounds and run from 5pm on October 2 and 5pm on Sunday October 4.

The latest arrest follows that of Thursday September 24 when two men were arrested in Staple Gardens on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent.
