A man has been arrested after a 26-year-old man was 'seriously' assaulted last night.

The incident took place just after 9pm on Gamble Road, Portsmouth.

A man got out of a blue vehicle and approached the victim before assaulting him, and driving off.

The 26 year-old was left with a cut on his neck and remains at QA hospital.

His injuries are not said to be life threatening.

A 24 year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
