A PUPIL at a Meon Valley school has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Year 8 pupil at Swanmore College has not been on site since Thursday September 17.

The pupil tested a couple of days ago and the school has said it is in contact with their family.

In a message to parents and carers today (Thursday), headteacher Kyle Jonathan said: "Public Health England have carried out a triage risk assessment and their advice is clear.

"Based on the pupil's attendance and contact within Swanmore College, we do not need to act upon or escalate the situation.

"Swanmore College remains open and pupils should continue to attend if they remain well.

"Nevertheless, we appreciate that you may be concerned by this development and attached to parental email there is advice on how to support your child if they develop symptoms in the future."
