BOLTON'S infection rate is below 200 according to today's update of the rolling seven-date rate of new coronavirus cases.

The figures, for the seven days to September 27, based on tests, show that the rate has fallen to 196.1 per 100,000 people from 234.4 per l00,000 in the previous week ­— the seven days to September 20.

The number of new cases in the same time period was down from 674 to 564

Data for the most recent three days (September 28-30) has been excluded as it is incomplete and likely to be revised.

Burnley continues to have the highest rate in England, with 291 new cases recorded in the seven days to September 27 – the equivalent of 327.3 cases per 100,000 people.

It is up sharply from 178.8 per 100,000 in the seven days to September 20.

Bolton is now placed 10th in the country for its infection rate, another fall, while Manchester is now fifth.

The analysis has been compiled by the PA news agency and is based on Public Health England data published on September 30 on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.
