KINGS’ school in Winchester has announced the appointment of Dr James Adams as the new headteacher from January 2021.
Dr Adams joins Kings' from Poole High School, a highly successful large comprehensive school which has seen notable improvement in performance year on year, where he shaped the learning strategy within the school.
He undertook teacher training at Bath University, following the completion of a PhD in engineering surveying at the University of Nottingham. He started his teaching career at the Thomas Hardye School, Dorchester, before taking his first senior leadership role within Somerset.
His vision for Kings’ is a one of a culture of excellence, with the highest standards of academic performance and holistic development for every pupil, regardless of educational learning need or background.
He passionately believes that it is Kings’ mission, through ‘Una Laborantes’, to ensure that each pupil feels confident, valued and is enabled to discover the things which excite and inspire them so they leave Kings’ well-rounded and ready to embrace a life of opportunity and choice.
Dr Adams replaces Matthew Leeming who left in the summer to join the Metropolitan Police.
