Former Winchester based artist Frank Turner is one of the 10 final nominees for XFM's coveted New Music Award 2007.

Beating off competition from the likes of Calvin Harris and Jamie T, Frank's debut album Sleep For The Week, released on independent label Xtra Mile Recordings in January, is up against the might of major label success stories such as the Klaxons, Kate Nash, The Enemy and The Twang.

The award ceremony takes place on Wednesday January 16 at London's Koko.

Each nominee will play live and the winner, chosen by a panel of industry movers and shakers, will be announced on the night.

The news of his nomination came as Frank returned from a successful three week tour of America, hopping from a festival in Florida to sold out sweaty clubs in New York to radio sessions on the west coast's Indoe 103.1FM to more packed gigs in LA.

The tour was in support of the release of his mimi album Campfire Punkrock (USA) out in January through Welcome Home Records.

With an ever increasing profile in the States, Frank will be touring across the pond again next year.

Back in the UK, he is currently busy recording tracks for his second studio album due for release in the Spring To keep up with Frank or for more information visit <&bh"http://www.frank-turner.com">www.frank-turner.com<&eh> or <&bh"http://www.myspace.com/frankturner">www.myspace.com/frankturner<&eh>.
