ONLY one new case of coronavirus have been reported in Winchester district in the last 24 hours

The number of new infections in Hampshire has increased by 20 in the last day.

There were 5,647 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the Hampshire County Council area as of 4pm today, up from 5,627, reported on Monday.

No new deaths have been reported locally.

The number of confirmed cases in Winchester area is at 531, up one, with a rate of 425.3 per 100,000 people.

The rate of infection in Hampshire stands at 408.5 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average, shown this evening as 573.9.

Today there have now been 374,228 cases of the virus across the UK – an increase of 3,105 in the last 24 hours.

The number of deaths in Hampshire hospitals remains at 608.

The figure for fatal cases at the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which includes the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, is 161, the same since June 29. The figures for the other local county trusts are Portsmouth Hospital NHS Trust, 230; Solent NHS Trust, 2; Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, 17; University Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, 198.

Nationally, a further 27 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 41,664, according to the ONS website updated this afternoon.

POLICE are urging members of the public to report coronavirus rule breaches as part of a crackdown.

Gatherings or more than six people are now prohibited - indoors or outdoors - and officers say they will work with other organisations to help limit the spread of Covid-19 infection.

Residents who witness rule breaches are being asked to contact police and report them, and say fines will be issued if necessary.
